A cozy and flavorful Chicken Shawarma served with a creamy garlic sauce and fresh vegetables, perfect for weeknight dinners.

- 2 lbs chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Pita bread or flatbread, for serving
- Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers) for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add the chicken and coat it with the spice mixture. Drizzle with olive oil and marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Mix the minced garlic, yogurt, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl to make the garlic sauce. Set aside.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and golden brown.
- Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve the chicken in pita bread or flatbread, topped with garlic sauce and fresh vegetables.
Notes
Marinate the chicken up to a day in advance for best flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
