Description

Delightful chocolate sugar cookies with a rich chocolaty sweetness, perfect for gatherings or cozy evenings at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups (228g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (85g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (224g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups (310g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar (additional for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
  5. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing just until the dough comes together.
  7. Form the dough into 1 1/2 tablespoon-sized balls, rolling them in additional sugar.
  8. Place the balls on the baking sheet and press down slightly.
  9. Bake for 7-8 minutes until puffed but not overbaked.
  10. Cool on baking sheets for 4-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Customize with mint extract, nuts, chocolate chips, or sprinkles for a festive twist. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
