A comforting slow-cooked sandwich filled with tender, shredded beef, caramelized onions, and optional Provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • Provolone cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the roast in the crock pot and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic to the pot.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 480 minutes (8 hours).
  5. Once it’s done, remove the meat, shred it gently, and return it to the pot.
  6. Serve the shredded beef on hoagie rolls, topped with Provolone cheese if desired.

Notes

Make ahead and store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Shred beef while warm for easier handling.
