Description

Delicious homemade mozzarella sticks, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, perfect for a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • String cheese or mozzarella cheese (full sticks)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Cut the cheese into sticks, each about 3-4 inches long.
  2. Set up a breading station with one bowl for flour, one for beaten eggs, and another for breadcrumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each cheese stick into the flour, then the egg, and finally into the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Place breaded cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Carefully fry the mozzarella sticks in hot oil until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Drain the fried sticks on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Pre-bread the cheese sticks and freeze them for up to a few days. Fry them when ready to serve!
