Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, milk, orange juice, and orange zest.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat the softened butter in a bowl for the frosting until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well.
- Add the heavy cream, orange juice, and zest, and beat until fluffy.
- Frost the top of one cake layer, stack the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides generously.
- Garnish with fresh orange slices for an extra splash of color.
