Description

A nutritious twist on classic burgers, featuring cabbage slices as wholesome, gluten-free buns filled with seasoned meat and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small head Cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 cup Cheese (for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Carefully cut your cabbage into thick slices, creating beautiful “buns.” Brush each slice with olive oil on both sides.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine your choice of ground meat with finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the optional egg.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into small patties.
  5. Place the cabbage slices on the baking sheet and nestle your meat patties on top of them. Sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the cheese is beautifully melted.
  7. Once done, let them cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Feel free to prep the patties and cabbage slices in advance. Store them in the fridge and bake when ready to eat. These cabbage burgers can be kept in the refrigerator for up to three days.
