Description

Enjoy the cozy flavors of Alabama BBQ Chicken Chopped Sandwich combining crispy chicken tenders with a creamy, tangy BBQ sauce on toasted hoagie rolls.

  • 68 crispy fried chicken tenders
  • 3 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup dill pickles plus a few splashes of brine
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 4 hoagie rolls (soft sesame hoagies preferred)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (for toasting rolls)
  • 1 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons creamy horseradish
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or less, to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Whisk together all Alabama white BBQ sauce ingredients in a medium bowl until smooth.
  2. Warm the crispy chicken tenders in the oven or air fryer until hot and crisp.
  3. Split the hoagie rolls and toast them with butter in a skillet until golden and crisp.
  4. Layer the chopped romaine lettuce, pickles, sliced red onion, and warm chicken tenders on a large cutting board.
  5. Chop everything together to form a chopped-salad texture.
  6. Drizzle a generous amount of the BBQ sauce over the mixture and chop until well coated.
  7. Stuff the chopped mixture into the toasted hoagie rolls.
  8. Add an extra drizzle of Alabama white BBQ sauce on top before serving.

Notes

The BBQ sauce can be made ahead and stored for convenience. Customize with favorite toppings or substitute chicken with vegetarian options.
