Description

Delicious and healthy cabbage dumplings that are perfect for a cozy family meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 cup of cooked and chopped lean ground meat (chicken, turkey, or tofu)
  • 1 cup of chopped vegetables (carrots, onions, or mushrooms)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Herbs for seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of water and preparing a bowl of ice water. Carefully remove the core of the cabbage and gently peel off the leaves. Blanch the leaves in the boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until they are tender, then remove and place them in the ice water to halt the cooking process.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground meat, chopped vegetables, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  3. Take a blanched cabbage leaf and carefully place a spoonful of the filling at the base of the leaf. Fold the sides over the filling to create a neat dumpling.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the dumplings in batches and cook until they are golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy your healthy, delicious dumplings as a perfect snack or meal!

Notes

These dumplings freeze well. Prepare them in advance and cook from frozen when ready to eat.
