Description

These Cheesy Garlic Scalloped Potatoes are a comforting dish perfect for family gatherings or chilly evenings, featuring layers of creamy cheese and tender potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish to ensure easy serving.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it becomes a smooth paste. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses until melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it cool slightly, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

For an added twist, mix in sautéed greens or add a crunchy topping before baking.
