Description

A cozy and comforting Italian classic, this Classic Bolognese is perfect for family dinners and weeknight meals. Rich and flavorful, it’s sure to warm your heart.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 500g ground beef
  • 400g can of diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup red wine (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish
  • Pasta of choice for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat, allowing it to warm until it shimmers.
  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, finely chopped carrots, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine (or vegetable broth), dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Let your kitchen fill with the aroma!
  5. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve over your favorite cooked pasta and garnish with fresh basil.

Feel free to customize with different meats or additional veggies. This sauce gets better when made ahead!
