- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 carrots, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 500g ground beef
- 400g can of diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup red wine (or vegetable broth)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
- Pasta of choice for serving
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat, allowing it to warm until it shimmers.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, finely chopped carrots, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables soften, about 5-7 minutes.
- Increase the heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine (or vegetable broth), dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Let your kitchen fill with the aroma!
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve over your favorite cooked pasta and garnish with fresh basil.
