Description

A comforting dish of spaghetti coated in a rich, zesty sauce with Italian sausage and topped with fresh basil and Parmesan.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese, for serving
  • Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the cooked sausage back into the skillet and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing those beautiful flavors to meld.
  6. Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce until well coated.
  7. Serve hot, topped with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
