Description

A comforting dish featuring tender gnocchi in a rich broth with caramelized onions, topped with melted Gruyere cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package potato gnocchi
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, stirring occasionally for about 25-30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Add the beef broth to the skillet and bring to a gentle simmer, letting the flavors meld for a few minutes.
  3. Cook the potato gnocchi according to the package instructions. Drain and add it to the skillet with the onion and broth mixture.
  4. Stir gently to combine and let it simmer for a few more minutes, allowing the gnocchi to absorb the broth flavor.
  5. Preheat your oven’s broiler to high.
  6. Transfer the gnocchi and onion mixture to an oven-safe dish. Sprinkle the grated Gruyere cheese on top.
  7. Broil for a few minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Can be made ahead by prepping the caramelized onions and broth mixture a day in advance.
