Description

A delightful twist on classic Sloppy Joes, blending hearty beef with rich marinara and gooey mozzarella, all piled on crispy Italian bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pieces of Italian bread or garlic bread
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. On a baking sheet, place the Italian bread slices and top each slice with the Sloppy Joe mixture.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of each Sloppy Joe.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Prepare the Sloppy Joe mixture ahead of time (up to 2 days in advance) for a quick meal. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
