- 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (100 grams) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp butter extract (optional)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup (115 grams / 4 oz) unsalted butter
- ¾ cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
- ¼ cup (60 mL / 2 fl oz) water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter with granulated and powdered sugars until light and fluffy.
- Blend in the eggs, vanilla extract, and butter extract (if using) until fully incorporated.
- Fold in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
- Roll the dough into 1.5-inch spheres and flatten each ball slightly on the baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
- Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Heat remaining butter in a saucepan and stir in sugar and water until dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Brush or drizzle the glaze over warm cookies and let cool completely.
Notes
You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. Store leftover cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
