Description

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (225 grams / 8 oz) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp butter extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115 grams / 4 oz) unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (60 mL / 2 fl oz) water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter with granulated and powdered sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in the eggs, vanilla extract, and butter extract (if using) until fully incorporated.
  4. Fold in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1.5-inch spheres and flatten each ball slightly on the baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
  7. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Heat remaining butter in a saucepan and stir in sugar and water until dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  9. Brush or drizzle the glaze over warm cookies and let cool completely.

Notes

You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. Store leftover cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
