Description

A delightful combination of sweet, spicy turkey bacon and creamy goat cheese, perfect for dipping with crispy crostini or fresh veggies.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack of thick-cut turkey bacon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 baguette
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
  • Maple syrup (or honey, or hot honey)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set an oven-safe rack on top.
  3. Mix the brown sugar, black pepper, water, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.
  4. Coat the turkey bacon slices on both sides with the mixture.
  5. Bake the bacon for 15 minutes, then flip and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
  6. Cool the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Preheat the oven to 425°F for crostini.
  8. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch slices and arrange them on a cookie sheet.
  9. Brush slices with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  10. Bake the crostini for 7-10 minutes until golden brown, then cool.
  11. Prepare the serving dish by placing the goat cheese log on it.
  12. Add the chopped cooled bacon pieces into the goat cheese log.

Notes

Prep ahead by preparing bacon and crostini separately, storing them until assembly. Leftover bacon can be stored for up to 5 days.
