Description

A creamy, golden casserole that layers tender potatoes and hearty cabbage in a melted cheese embrace, perfect for chilly nights.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or a mix)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook until slightly wilted.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the sautéed cabbage mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Pour half of the heavy cream on top, followed by half of the cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  8. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
