- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
- 1/2 cup chocolate caramel frosting for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; mix on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the mixture is smooth (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Slice each cake in half to create four layers once cooled.
- Spread a generous layer of salted caramel sauce between the cake layers.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with chocolate frosting.
- Drizzle chocolate caramel frosting over the top before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
For customization, add chopped nuts or use different flavored frostings. This cake can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container.
